Gunpowder Chronicles Returns to Facebook
After a prolonged professional and legal battle, Gunpowder Chronicles has officially returned to Facebook, with audiences responding immediately through thousands of views within days.
During Kosovo’s general election of 28 December 2025, our English-language publication, Gunpowder Chronicles, alongside our Albanian-language newsroom, KRONIKAT E BARUTIT, remained actively engaged in reporting on political developments, security issues and matters of public interest, as expected from an independent newsroom covering democratic affairs, geopolitics and regional stability.
Throughout that period, both publications delivered continuous reporting on the election process, political developments and regional dynamics connected to the public interest.
Shortly afterwards, our Facebook pages in both English and Albanian were removed from the platform. Alongside them, the personal Facebook account of our founder and journalist, Vudi Xhymshiti, was also suspended. While the personal account was restored relatively quickly, our media pages remained blocked for months.
We believe this occurred as a result of a coordinated mass-reporting campaign targeting our journalism and public-interest reporting.
In response, our newsroom pursued professional and legal channels to challenge the removals and seek the restoration of our public presence on the platform.
On 13 May 2026, Facebook officially restored our pages.
The public response was immediate.
The first audience figures following the restoration of Gunpowder Chronicles demonstrate a rapid return of public engagement. Between 13 and 15 May 2026 alone, the page recorded more than 16,270 views, representing an increase of over 12,800 per cent compared with the previous reporting period.
These figures represent more than statistics. They demonstrate that our journalism is sought out, followed and supported by readers despite months of enforced absence from the platform.
The response from audiences confirms that there remains a genuine demand for independent, accountable journalism focused on geopolitics, security, democracy and public-interest reporting.
We will continue our work with the same determination and editorial independence.
Gunpowder Chronicles and Kronikat e Barutit will continue reporting on the issues that affect democracy, security, human rights and public freedoms across Europe, the Balkans and beyond.
Your support remains essential.
We invite readers to follow our Facebook pages, share our reporting and subscribe to our platforms. With your support, independent journalism can continue to exist, grow and hold power to account.
